One Earth, One Health through Yoga
On June 21, the world came together to celebrate the International Day of Yoga, a
tradition observed annually since its adoption by the United Nations in 2014. This
year’s theme, “Yoga for One Earth, One Health,” echoed powerfully across Kenya
as the High Commission of India in Nairobi hosted the 11th edition of the celebration
at the Sikh Union Club Grounds. The event attracted more than 2,500 participants,
including government officials, members of the diplomatic corps, UN representatives,
yoga instructors, students, and wellness enthusiasts, all united by the spirit of
mindfulness, balance, and health.
The day’s activities showcased the power of yoga as more than just a physical
exercise. It was celebrated as a holistic practice that builds physical strength,
improves posture, enhances flexibility, and boosts circulation. Beyond the body,
yoga’s benefits extend deeply into the mind, reducing stress, improving emotional
resilience, and fostering inner peace through mindful breathing and meditation.
Speakers at the event emphasized yoga’s role in preventive health care, noting its
ability to lower lifestyle-related diseases and provide tools for coping with anxiety and
mental health challenges. In a world facing increasing pressure from fast-paced
living, yoga stood out as a timeless remedy for balance and harmony.
Kenya’s participation in this global observance also highlighted the country’s growing
commitment to wellness as part of its national identity.
Amid the vibrant displays of yoga practice and wellness advocacy, Kenindia
Assurance Company took pride in a moment of recognition. The company’s
Managing Director, Mr. Yogesh Meshram, was honoured with a special Appreciation
from the High Commission of India for his pivotal role in the success of the
International Yoga Day 2025 celebrations.
The recognition highlighted the active involvement, from planning through to
execution, and the dedication of time, effort, and resources to ensure the event’s
success. This honour not only reflected personal commitment but also symbolized
Kenindia’s broader vision of promoting wellness and balance in society.
For Kenindia, well-being is more than a value, it is a responsibility. Just as the
company safeguards lives through insurance, it also champions holistic living by
supporting initiatives that strengthen communities from within. The acknowledgment
of Mr. Meshram’s role in International Yoga Day serves as a reminder that corporate
leadership extends beyond boardrooms, reaching into spaces that inspire healthier,
happier, and more resilient communities.
